Hey Tintman can you edit and get that picture on the right bumped down? Its making the thread too wide, and I hate scrolling back and forth.[8D] Nice bikes, I wonder however if peer pressure had a little to do with your decision to bag the KLX. Just remember what really counts is that you are happy with what you have. The only thing I guess we didn't like is the way your friend ragged on the KLX. He could have said it a little nicer. Tell him no hard feelings, you guys look like you have a great club, and that's what its all about. Really in the end, it doesn't matter if you ride the green, the yellow, the red or the blue, what matters is doing something you love and having good people to share it with. Peace. How do you guys get away with no mirrors, no signal lights, and no brake light?? (or is that tiny little strip on the fender a brake light?)
Judging by the looks of your backyard, you don't live in the sticks... So what gives?
Oh, just looked at your profile - from Australia? What, don't you have cops down there?

Thanks man, I was beginning to feel left out.

I thought I might have to paint my bike to fit in around here.

I'm not bagging the bike, for a dual sport bike it's right on the money. I live only 2km from state forest so you'd have to be really unlucky to get pulled over in that short distance on surburban back streets. We normally trailer the bikes to the mountains(30min drive or 45min ride) as the few times we have ridden the ride home was very boring as the roads are straight and long.

The bikes come with a rear fender extension with a led taillight and led indicators which we can stick back on in 10min if we want to do more road riding, It's just one more thing to get damaged off road. The led brake light in the tear fender is out of harms way and works well so we leave it on.

I won't bore you guys with any more Honda propaganda, this is a great site, I wish the CRF sites I've found were as informative and friendly.

Thanks again

Peter

hey tintman-
i don't know what dollar amounts you are using, but a brand new 2007 TE250 can be had for $6299 otd US dollars- a far cry from the $11000 you stated. That's actually cheaper than the Honda's. Also, I would be willing to bet that those bikes in the picture, even the one single CRF isn't close to being street legal. One more thing, why be like everyone else in your group? Wouldn't it be cool to have a different bike that smoked everyone else in your monolithic bike gang? I wouldn't like it if my bike was just like everyone elses I rode with, but that's just me.
Mate it's Australian dollars, we have to work harder for everything here(except sunshine).

With the rear fender extension and mirrors our bikes are 100% road legal in every state of Australia.

I ride with a lot of different people, the ride before that pic was with 2 x KTM's and a Yamaha, in our parts KTM's are the most common followed by Yamaha so Honda is not so common. In the pic is 2 x CRF450X, 2 x CRF250X, 1 x XR250, 1 x XR400 all registered and road legal (except when some bits have been taken off for the bush)

Just buying "X" brand of bike won't make you smoke your riding buddies, when the new TE250 comes out(not the sleeved down TE450 that is currently being sold as a TE250) it should be a good bike but I wouldn't say any better than the KTM250EXC, Yamaha WR250, or the Honda CRF250X. They are all good bikes, the new model Husky TE250 will just be catching up with the rest of the pack and hopefully loosing a bit of the extra weight it has over the others.

In the end I bought the bike I wanted.

I think before we call a bike street legal we need to find out where we live in the US that Honda would not be legal but in AU I guess it is []
I wish our laws would let us ride a bike like that , but our laws are very strict on dirt bikes[:@]

Doesn't seem fair when you see some of the Harleys getting around.
