I know a lot of klx250 owners have changed the front sprocket out....I can't seem to get the stupid nut off using a 1/2-inch drive racthet and a pipe for leverage...how did you do it?...I am exerting a lot of force, but not getting anywhere..and yes, I flattened out the washer behind it. any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks

 

Mine was not that hard on my KLX, but I have had some in the past that were crazy hard. I used a propane torch to heat it up and a 24" breaker bar. You will have to make sure the rear wheel is locked down or someone is sitting on it holding the rear break. There are a lot of helpful tips I have read in the past. Have you tried a search?

 

didn't search yet, but did have the bike in 1st gear, on the stand, someone holding the brake and holding down the bike...I could not believe how tight the nut is

 

It's crazy how easy an impact wrench would make the job. I had one that I took to the dealer when I was changing my tires and had him change the CS. It took about 30 seconds to do the job. Have you tried hitting the wrench with a hammer to break it loose? Lefty Loosey

 

yeah a couple of hammers... started small and worked up to a much larger hammer, but like u say I believe an impact gun will be needed...disappointed I didn't get the sprocket changed today, but plan on purchasing one of those electric impact guns tomorrow...btw is the nut a 26mm? I have a 12 point 1 1/16, but it seems just a tad loose..not a big fan of the twelve point sockets either

 

Wow I had my 120 lb wife on the bike with the back brake on and it came off pretty easy. Sounds like quality control from the factory.

 

I couldn't even get that nut off with my cordless impact. I had to go over to a friends shop who had an air impact and turn up the air pressure to get the thing off.

 

I used an electric impact wrench to get mine off, it took it off no problem.

 

+1 on electric impact.

 

If I remember right I think it is a 20mm nut on the CS. You really need to get a 6 point instead of that 12. With all that force you are going to strip it especially trying to use SAE size sockets. That bit of play might be part of your problem.
