Thumbs up Cruise control install.

Nothing to do with the KLX but I installed the mccruise.com cruise control on my CBF today.

The first thing i will say is that this is a very, very well designed and thought out kit.
Its a lot more complicated than I thought it would be.
Not that it's difficult to install but you need to take your time and follow the very comprehensive instructions.
They are good instructions with lots of pictures etc.

There are 5 main components to this unit.
A Computer, a Vacuum Actuator, a Cable Interface Unit, a Speed Sensor and a Control Panel.
I won't go into every detail but feel free to ask questions.

It took me 5 hours but that was being very slow and methodical.
There is a full set up and diagnostic process to go through prior to a ride.
All went without a hitch
I fact the the only part that annoyed me was some of the cheesy Honda fasteners holding parts of the fairing together.
I had a bit of trouble re-assembling the throttle tube.
Note to self, don't twist it too much without both cables being connected as you will kink one. :232:

All in all, a very classy bit of kit.

Well I guess you want to know what its like to ride.

In a word, BRILLIANT.

It's just like a car unit.
Press the set button, bingo.

A couple of things I noted.
When you deactivate it by either touching the brake, pulling the clutch or turning it off, if you dont have a hold of the throttle to sort of match your speed, the engine braking alone is quite strong.

If you rapidly accelerate and then press the set button, there can be a slight delay as, I assume, the vacuum actuator cable catches up with the throttle position.

But seriously, it is simply fantastic to be able to just press a button and then relax.
You can take both hands off the bars and steer with your knees.
(errrr yeh, don't try this at home kids)

It hold speed perfectly.
Touch either brake or the clutch and it instantly disengages.
Hit resume and it accelerates back to the set speed.
You can fine tune the speed with the acc/dec buttons.

Its not cheap but IMO, worth every cent.

Definitely looks like the way to go for long rides. Now what did the wife get for her "indoors"?

Nice! I've seen throttle locks for touring, but never a real cruise control. Smart.

That's pretty cool, Neil. Sure beats the old "suicide throttle" lock method.

My brother bought a HD Ultra Tour glide, and when I used it last winter https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ight=fourty2ri I was impressed with the cruise control on it. Accurate and reliable. Its weird, to me though, it Totally changes the way you ride. I loved how relaxed it was, but then again I kept asking myself if I wanted to be "relaxed" while I was riding in Florida, (Home of the White heads in Mercury Grand Ma's.)
