Couple of re-jetting questions... The Re-assembly Stage
Hey, just finished re-jetting (125/40 for HMF) and putting her (partially) back together. Sounds/revs better already!
Coupla questions:
1) What is the easiest way to get the throttle push/pull cable ends out of the slots? I wound up bending the tabs and re-bending them to get them out and in. Is there a better way? I couldn't figure out how to remove them otherwise.
2) Where do the two (huge) black rubber lines from the fuel tank route to? I can't remember where they go through the chassis. I routed the two amber clear lines and a black rubber (small) carb line down through the "keeper tab" that is right in front of the rear shock.
At least I didn't have any "spare" parts left over.
Thanx, Lance

Loosen all the jamb nuts on where the cables attach and then twist the throttle to provide slack. The cable ends can be removed without bending anything.

Rubber tubes are breathers, and route down through under the bike, through guide/keepers that put them under center of bike, in front of rear wheel.
Throttle cables (from what I recall) were pretty easy to just remove once the retainer nuts were loosened enough - no bending should be neccessary (or desired?? :S ).
Not having spare parts is a good thing...
I'd be interested to know how things run with the larger jet #40. I went to the 125, but left the other jet stock. Also, I ride at about 5000-10000 feet elevation, so I didn't want to get too much fuel going. I'm a little rich as is...

Thanx, now I know how to get the push/pullers out...
Anyone have a pic of the fuel tank breather tubes routing? My photographic memory has failed me again...

Lance,
This thread at HMF Exhaust has the definitive work on how to get to the carb and put things back like you found them. The pics you needs should be there, I believe.
The bottom line is that you need to thread the tubes back between the swingarm forks so that they dangle in front of the rear tire.
Here's the link to the procedure at HMF Exhaust forum

Thanx, I used the HMF forum info to pull her apart and everything went back fine except...
I can't remember the exact routing of those two large hoses; do they just -dangle- next to the "keeper" tab in front of the rear wheel that contains the 2 amber clear and 1 black rubber hose?
I know this is bone-head stuff, but I cannot remember the routing [:@]

Lance,
I am pretty sure that the two big black hoses should angle down over the idle cable and down past the petcock. They keep going down at an angle toward the centerline of the bike and through the frame to the right side of bike just in front of the rear tire. They do dangle next to the others, but on the other side. They basically cross over the 2 ambers & 1 small black as they make their way to the other side of the bike. If you still have that little bulb thing hanging on the medium black tube, they hang down near that.
Hope this helps. It's hard to describe spacial orientations in words. Sorry for the lack of pics.
