Default Counertshaft sprocket

2006/2007 KLX250S sprockets are listed under street applications on the SunStar web site.

A search turns up this page

http://sunstar-mc.com/searchresults....-S&DD3=2006-07

However there is no 13 tooth sprocket listed for the KLX250S

If you look up XR250L
http://sunstar-mc.com/searchresults....0L&DD3=1993-08

It lists a 13 tooth sprocket and it will fit the KLX250S

I purchased an AFAM 13 tooth sprocket for an XR650L.
AFAM part# 20510 13 and it works on my 07 KLX250S

I went to the Honda dealer today and he came up with different part numbers. 34213 didn't even appear. I have one coming from gnarly parts. It shouldn't be so complicated to get a lousy CS sprocket. Thanks for all the help!!

I'm not sure what to say. I'm 110% sure that my sprocket says "342" on the bottom of it and on the top it says "Sunstar". And I counted the teeth, its 13. No doubt about any of it.

And it was originally ordered by a Kawasaki dealer, and the head parts guy is actually one of the very few knowledgable ones. He's pretty well known around here for actually knowing his stuff. When I'm over there next I could ask him how he ordered it. He also got a JT sprocket for the 12 tooth one as well.

I am sure you got the part number right too. They just couldn't find it in the book. Anyhow I have one coming and that is main thing.

Default 15t counter sproc

I put on a 15. I have the 340 cc mod and it boosted cruising speed to 70mph from 63. I think I paid $25 usd. Aftermarket part. The retaining nut was very hard to remove. I had to take mine to a shop where they went thru 3 air wrenches.

I had a problem removing the C/S nut also.
I have an air impact wrench and it hammered away and nothing moved.
I was worried that it might have left hand threads and I was tightening it so I got out the manual and it didn't say left hand threads so I cranked up the pressure regulator on the compressor to max and tried the impact wrench again.
This time it broke loose.
When I installed the nut again I put anti-seize on the threads.
Hopefully this will help.

I hate nuts on CS sprockets,...clips are all you need. It's impossible for the sprocket to come off as long as the chain is still on it anyway. Most dirt and MX bikes,...including the KLX300 I think (not sure), even have clips.

When you go to take that nut off make sure that washer is completely hammered flat. If any of it is raised at all it won't want to come off. After that I found a 1 1/16" fits slightly better than a 27mm so that it wont round as easy. Then use your impact wrench to remove it best you can. After you change the sprocket and put the new one back on dont use the impact wrench. Just take a regular wrench and put the bike in gear and tighten it until the motor turns over, or maybe have someone hold the rear brake down so you can give it a little extra "umph". Then all you gotta do is just slightly bend that washer outward, you don't even have to flatten it against the side of the nut....and its not going ANYWHERE!!!.

I think thats the dumbest idea ever putting a nut on something that doesn't have a solid base to turn against....like a counter shaft.

What he said!! No need to tighten it too much. Mine came off quite easily.
