Correct running temp and max temp

Fan Switch
I don't concern myself with the coolant temperature on my 2006. I have a Thermo-Bob which keeps the temperature stable and constant, probably around 185°. It gets plenty warm here in the desert, 115° isn't uncommon. The fan comes on as necessary, but the bike never overheats.
I think If it was important for me to have the fan come on at a lower temperature (if I didn't have the Thermo-Bob), I would just put in a lower temperature fan switch rather than have to deal with a manual switch. But, I'm lazy that way.

I had an experience today where my heat warning light came on well before the fan did. This seems backwards to me. I think the fan should come on before the high temperature waring light comes on.

That's a dirty trick - waiting a year to take a pot shot!
Actually I wouldn't mind a share of it. Makes sense. I've seen similar set ups done on KLX650s where they connected the lines to allow the temp in the cylinder to be more consistent.
By the way, I didn't look through everything, but I remember back around 87-89 the Ninja 600s ran hot on the temp gauge. Riders that complained got it fixed - a resistor in the line to drop the gauge reading. Apparently Kawasaki didn't have any problem with the bike running upward of 250 degrees for periods of time based on their testing.
