The carb is much easier to tune for power.
Guys here in Thailand are ditching the efi for carbs.

If the European Union have there (alleged) way we will be banned from doing anything to our bikes that changes them from stock - no power train mods ~ air filter all the way through to the rear chain and sprocket; Mandatory ABS; no body mods. (Of course there may be some scare mongering about this - in UK we do love to only be in Europe when it suits us and whinge like **** when it does'nt)

Still better buy some carbs pronto, just in case? Or ignore EU regs like most of the rest of our European cousins

Speaking from the Asian & Australian EFi market, it's hard enough getting the MAPPING right without the use of piggyback controllers or fully programmable ecu units, like I run. Our bikes come out of the factory EFi & can still be a pain in the a$$.....but when they run sweet, they definitely run better than a carby.
so where should I start jetting wise. I swapped my z125 with a klx motor and am getting the tm33 pumper. It's stock motor with exhaust and intake.

Absolutely! My carbed 2007 model is a B!*** to start on a cold morning! That is my major gripe against the older carbed KLX's!

There are "fixes" for cold start problems.

The newer Dual sport KLX EFI's have a build-in (programmed into the ECM) power killing detune that cannot be deactivated ( at this time ) ... Thus, performance above 7500 rpm is far inferior to the carb'd KLX's..

If it wasn't such an old post I'd have said they should simply sell it off and get a new KLX300S or the like. With electronic stuff that is virtually always non-returnable and quite expensive, it would be a total crap shoot to try to retro-fit.

I will say it's a shame bike fueling is so one-off on every model that there can't be a deal done like cars. Street rod guys can buy a throttle body EFI setup that will actually adapt and learn what the engine needs are as the car is driven, after an initial setup. Sure would be cool if a 36mm throttle body with a self learning ECU or computer unit could be simply bolted on, a few numbers tweaked then let it learn.
