and actually, those Skene lights (linked above) are designed to be especially sensitive to peripheral vision, in other words, a driver that might not have consciously seen you, yet. That's the major appeal of that system for me.
They also have a brake light system that has a de-accelerometer feature that actives the brake lights even when you don't touch the brakes, but instead slow the bike with downshifting / engine braking only... which I do a lot... t

family intervention is suggesting i dont ride anymore until kids are grown. sigh.
shift lever cracked that side timing cover(?) just a hair - slow oil leak. Bahhh.
Haven't gotten estimate yet but wondering if they'll want to total it given the relative cost of parts vs average street price for the bike.

Doesn't work. Watch your rear view mirror some times when you see a bike coming up behind you on the freeway. You won't hear even a straight pipe Harley until it is at your rear quarter panel - and you're actually listening for it. Same with a bike coming toward you. The sound waves are going out the back, not forward.

You would be better getting some stand off flood lights further out from your turn signals and down about the top of your fender. Just making your lights brighter is not as good as what i describe. Probably couldn't use them off road.
Look at what the DualSport big bikes are using. That is what I would get first.

I was checkin out some bigger adv bikes last week and they have little LED floods on their forks. My old TransAlp had them too, and they were bright. The forward facing Skene lights are bright, too, but they are amber. I’m considering an LED bar above the stock light to deal with the issues you raise, plus the deaccelerator activated brake lights at the rear. All good stuff and totalling about $600. I don’t ride that much at night, so the stock light is fine for seeing. I’ll be adding lights specifically to be seen, first. Then upgrade the headlighting.
