Default Comparison KLX

I have the choice between two 2009 KLX250SFs. One is still new, factory everything, with the one year warranty and it cost 3549.50 out the door. The other is used, I only saw pictures of it, but it has a two brothers slip on and finder eliminator. It has 1034 miles on it. From the picture the bike looks as though is was rode hard, but it was still clean for the photo. The price for that one is 3200.

Also, I am 6'3 235. The bike is for a commuter around town. I am leaving the Army to finish college and this will be my commuter. About 10-20 miles a day.

Any suggestions would be nice.

Both prices are a little high, I've seen new 09's go for $3200 as they are 2 years old even if new. As far as the used one goes if you can get it for under 3k go for it. You might go ride the used one to see how it fits you and see if you like it overall. These are entry level noob bikes so if you came from like a sport bike back ground it might be on the mild side for ya.

Is that 3200 out the door? I've only rode dual sports, and I've only rode them in Afghanistan. I never got the bike over 40-45 mph because of the terrain. I mostly did right around 10-20 mph but it was also chinese bikes. I like the idea of entry level to gain experience with.

That is what I have been thinking. I can do the extras myself later on after I have gained an understanding of what I will want through my own experience of the bike.

I don't know where or why some of the posters on here can get such low prices on new KLX's. The cheapest I have seen here is $4000 for new 09's. I got my 07 new for $3800 but it has 192 miles on it and it was a safety course bike.

Even used 07's and 09's still go for well over $3k. You can't touch a 2010 for under $4600 right now.

Maybe it is because there are only a few dealers in my state?

Anyways, I am 6'-2" and 240 and fit just fine on my bike.

BigSKY KLX
I have found a lot of bikes around for good prices, but I still have to travel three hours to get to them. I am going with the new bike. I put a deposit on it and I will be picking it up on Saturday.

Also, I am glad to here you fit the bike nice, I was kind of afraid after a few hundred miles I would feel like it was too small. I am going to be riding in town though and the fastest speed limit is 50mph in the area I will be.

$350 more for a brand new bike is a no brainer in my opinion. I wouldn't mess with the used one unless you get a great deal on it and you think it is in good shape.
