oil filter from wal-mart
Ok, here's one: CH6015 is the Fram oil filter part number. You can buy them in Wal-Mart. Costs under $5 and comes with the stinkin' o-ring, unlike the $8 Kawi filter. Yes, they look identical. Fits great! It's not just the $3 difference in price, you see: Nearest Kawi dealer is 45 minutes-I drove there and bought two filters-drove home, drained oil, removed filter-pulled new one out of its box, and saw-NO O-RING! drove back to Kawi dealer...guess what? they don't keep them in stock. Stopped at WallyWorld for groceries, browsing automotive killing time, and wow looky here: fits klx250s, and has o-ring. So, I got the bike back together and was able to ride. I hate re-using o-rings, particularly on bikes. Leaks hurt more on 2 wheels!

13 Tooth Sprockets --> KIMPEX Part # 101006
OK, so everyone agrees (well, a lot of people, anyway) that a 13 tooth sprocket is the way to go.
My problem is that I couldn't find one, when I found one, the vendor (Read: "MAW") wouldn't ship to Canada, nor would they even send it to my buddy in Connecticut because I charged it to a Canadian Mastercard!?!! (Jeez, they think a $15.95 purchase must be part of aHUGE international credit card scam!!!)
Anyway, the parts guy at my local Kawasaki dealer (Ottawa Goodtime Center) did a great job cross referencing the part numbers I gave him with his arsenal of parts catalogs and bikes and suppliers, and tracked down a Kimpex part number, at a better price, and had it for me in 3 days!!!
Anyway, here's the list of sprockets and part numbers that I've compiled:
JT Sprockets: JTF516-13
Sprocket Specialists: 514XK-13
Sunstar: 34113
Kimpex: 101006
The Kimpex has the shoulder built in, so no spacer is needed. Didn't notice any increase in chain noise, either. The only thing that would have made the whole experience better was if it was easier to loosen the dam nut to get the sprocket off!!! (Yes, I did unbend the retaining washer beforehand ... it was still a bitch to get off!)
Hope this helps!
Mike

RE: 13 Tooth Sprockets --> KIMPEX Part # 101006
Hey Dad (Jack's Dad, that is),
The Kimpex sprocket that my dealer found has an OEM cross reference to the Sunstar 34113, and the Kimpex has the shoulder built in ... no extra spacer needed. So, my guess would be that the Sunstar has the built-in shoulder as well.

Do I need a spacer with this sprocket? Where do I find one if I do? What are the dimensions?
Thanks,
Brian
