Default Clogged fuel flow cutoff?

I've benn away for awhile & my bike has benn parked. I turned on my choke and fuel & fired her up. Ran for a minute & died. The milage said I should have enough gas but & hit the reserve & started without any problem. I brought the bike to by brothers house to store for the winter & filled the tank before storing it. When I took it off reserve it died out again.

It sounds like a clogged pickup in the tank. Without me taking out the service manual, whats involved in fixing this issue?

Just remove all the gas from the tank through the pipe that comes from the tap to the carb'. Have the tap set to reserve to do this. When the tank is empty just switch the tap to the main tank and blow up the pipe. Should clear any obstruction. Good idea to fit an inline filter between the tap and the carb'. Some extra cheap insurance as dirt and sand can get into the fuel tank quite easily.

There are 2 quite long fuel filters inside the tank.
1 for main and 1 for reserve.
I would pull each one out and give em a clean/inspection.
Easy to do, just remove the hoses and unscrew them.

It would take quite a lot of dirt to clog 1 so fuel can't flow.
Damaged? Worth a look.

Oh, and don't mix them up when putting em back.
Otherwise your reserve will run out before your main.

I was thinking it could be the ****ty gas we now use.The bike was outside under a cover unused for about 2 months. I usualy put stabilizer in the tank before letting it sit any time. The bike has never even benn off road yet.No dirt nothing!

This spring I will have to give it a good once over & cleaning!

Im so pissed that I didn't have it indoors under cover!

If it works on reserve but not when switched to on, I can't see fuel quality being the issue.
