The issue with 'petcocks' isn't valid here as the tank uses the stock brass fittings from the OE tank.

As mentioned, the tank was moulded for the KLX300R (has a slightly higher seat) but fits the 250R very well IMHO. I can't complain, I got it for the price of a case of beer.
It's good to hear you received a good tank. Just because one fits well doesn't mean the next one will, there is no consistency in their products. This is not my humble opinion it is fact as far as I'm concerned based my own real experiences with their products as well some of my friends. And like I said before best of luck if you have a customer service issue.

Right, I paid a little over $100 for the factory second (that looked perfect) and, I already knew about the fitment issues before I bought the tank. I think Neil put up quite a few pics of his install and the fit issues.
eyedragknee paid full price and was blindsided with the fit issue so I can sympathize.
Just for the record, my cap has not leaked, and it's been upside down a few times.

I would gladly put out more than $200 for a tank for my 07 that didn't require big mods and used stock pet-**** and either used the shroud space (without holding wasted gas) or accepted stock shrouds. I'm on the verge of having my welding buddy cut the top off the tank neatly and raising it 1 - 2 inches just to expand the stock tank a little. Love this little bike, but the tiny range is more fitting a scooter I think.

I'm debating whether to get the Clark or the Acerbis for my 2006. Does the Clark still have poor quality control or have they gotten better? Anybody buy one recently that could comment?

buds uses a honda crf cap on his clarke, I've been fine with the clarke cap, key is don't over tighten it. Another bud used a slice of thick inner tube between the petcock and tank to fix an annoying leak.
