They will break in a little, and if you're like most of us, you'll be the one breaking in and will get used to the feel and adjust your inputs to brake and shifter.
And if they just aren't feeling right for you, sell them slightly used and find another model that fits you better. Two pair of my mc boots were originally tested by someone else.

I looked at my shifter position and concluded it is too low for MX boots. I read someone say having the shifter and foot peg at the same height is a good starting point and my shifter is around an inch lower.
Works fine with my thin flight deck boots but not AS T5s. And I am gonna drop the rear brake lever and see how it goes. I expect to feel naked without the protection once I acclimate myself, much like I refuse to ride without my leathers regardless of the heat, on road rides.
