Default Chinese powerbomb

I have a 2018 KLX 250 and have been looking at options for an exhaust system. I got the FMF Powercore 4 and absolutely love the sound. I ran it with the stock header and had noticeable gains. For the header I was looking at both FMF powerbomb and megabomb. I was having a hard time spending $200 to $250 for either of them. I found a Chinese version on eBay for $88. I took the chance and ordered it. Well it would NOT slide over the Powercore; diameters were the exact same. I took it to the best exhaust shop around and ask if he could expand the "Chiner bomb." He advised me that stainless steel could break but I told him to go ahead. He was able to expand it with no issues. Installed it and it madet exhaust note deeper. 🙂 Tomorrow I will drive the bike and let y'all know its performs. Just wanted to let y'all know if you order a Chiner Bomb it WILL NOT fit without modification.

Could also run a piece of tubing at the joint. My old Bultaco had a rubber connector from the head pipe to the expansion box (Sherpa T). Could also do it with steel tubing. Just a thought.

My guy didn't charge me but I can't imagine it would cost more 20 or 30 bucks. It only took him 5 minutes.

Yes but something would have to be cut by about a half inch or so making the clamp or clamps be behind the frame. Expanding the pipe makes it fit just like a real powerbomb.

Only point was a second way if getting it flaired is either not easily done or costs a bunch. You do what you have to do. That was another possibility, nothing more.

I wasn't knocking your input by no means. I was just letting folks know that no matter what, fabrication is required whether it be flaring or cutting. Cheers!

While expanding the ChinaBomb to fit a FMF creates unknown performance, it would be expected to perform at least as well as the stock header - However, rigging up a small nipple slipon (same nipple size as a stock slipon) to seal into the oversized bell of a performance header will create a power loss across the board, compared to just keeping the stock header !

Cold rain today and tomorrow so I won't be able to test out the China Bomb until Sunday.
