China Hat, Oregon
also known as East Fort Rock OHV Trail System.
Turnsleft and myself headed down on May 4th
to ride some great trails. Our camp site was empty
when we arrived.
There are 318 miles of trails, ranging from easy to most difficult.
They are groomed, rocky and multiple whoops
Maps are provided at the camp site's info boards, you will need them.
the trails are dusty at times with some deep accumulations
a few other campers had arrived and we shared a fire and BS
all pine forest and basalt
the berms are built up good with the traffic and 4 wheelers
we did meet a couple of other groups, not many
Yamaha's
and Honda's
some good up hill with rocky roads you couldn't see around the corner
still snow at higher elevations (more later)
markers at intersections helped
on our last day it turned cool
it helped keep the dust down, no problem really
we spent four days riding, half a day going into Bend to get the
required OHV stickers. This system is 22 miles east of Bend, Oregon and 7 miles south of Hwy 20 on the Deschutes National Forest. Looking
forward to going back.

Very nice! , another great ride report with another great place to ride. Thanks for the pics. If I won the lottery , I'd tour around the country and ride all these great looking spots.

Tom and I at china Hat. It's not to often I get to take pictures of Tom, so if I got far enough ahead of him I would dig out the Pentax. Big time fun.
Toms first real trail ride. Could not have found a better place.
Lots of flowing trails. I had been there in September of 08 and Sept is pert warm for a wet side guy.
This is the Jeep play field.
South Ice cave
Mouth of cave.
Start of 3rd day. Looking back.
Looking where we are heading.
We would be riding down a smooth trail then get to the top of a little rise or come around a corner and bounce off some rocks. Still fun.
One group of ten went by and the first guy was standing up and took both hands off the bars with his fingers up and yelled 10, cracked me up.

This is just off the trail.
The trail came around a nice little right turn climbed a bit and went through a cut in the lava rocks about eight feet wide with a hard left in then came out at the upper right of pic. Wish I would have got a pic in the cut. Oh well next time,eh.
The last day had some strange weather.
There was a long strait then about a 180 with this nice berm.
then a bit of a up hill with rocks.
No problem.
A local.
Ah more snow. No dust is good.
This was the best trail. Right through a reprod. One had to watch the trees as they were a mite close to the helmet on a few corners.
Snow again.
Tom by the fire after the last days ride.
