If it's free..then it can't hurt to try it...I feel those stick on whistling ones don't work though, I've driven by a field with deer in it and they didn't even bat an ear!

 

if its free at salvage no loss, but they sell those deer whistles that stick on your grill (just plastic no wires)too and keep in mind the more electrics you add to your vehicle is just one more source of a potential problem. With luck like mine it would be the one that left me stranded out in the boonies and all the deer would be laughing at me.
