Changing valves at 3000-4000 miles
So what do guys think of this stuff about having to change valves out at 3000-4000 miles. Just got done reading the cdi thread and saw it again where someone says you have to change out valves on the Klx300 at 3000-4000 miles. Is there Any truth to this.
Since the Klx300 motor is soo much like ours I would think this would affect the Klx250 too. Man I'm gonna be Pissed if I have to change out my valves at that Milage. So Pissed I will Never buy another Kawasaki again. Your thoughts please....

Yep, now all's you have to do is Hope kawasaki doesnt void your extended warranty because of the mods you have made to your bike. Harley is notorious for this crap. Telling you you have voided your warranty because of the changes made to the bike.
I wonder if you can buy a extended warranty After you have already bought the bike. If I remember right Harley will let you buy a extended warranty right up untill the factory warranty expires. Extended warrany or not, Having to change out valves at 3-4k doesnt say much for Kawasaki's Quality Control does it.

Are you sure it's not some retard not knowing what a "valve adjustment" is? I have about 3600 on mine and I am sure others here have more than that. The notion of changing valves out is utterly rediculous.

well i agree, it would prob be a PITA to get em to cover it, but tbh any mods done to make these bikes run better, ie. rejet, better air flow in and out of the bike should make it less likely to burn the valves up as they come from the factory so lean that im surprised more people arent cookin their motors in the first 500 miles.[:'(]

Well thats why Im asking. Seems this is the second time I have seen something about this. My Impression is this is a Known Issue in the klx300 forum section. Now how true it is a dont know. Does it happen to All bikes or just the ones that are heavly modified or beat the hell out of. If it's a known issue then that 350 for the extended warranty might be a good investment after all. Anybody got a klx250S with over 3-4000 miles on it yet. Just trying to get at the Truth of this rumor...

Like I said, I have 3600+ on mine. No problems yet. I have not checked the clearances yet either. From the reading on the other lists, the engine just stops running. Based on that, I'm still good!

There is no reason for anything to be wrong with a valve at that mileage. Yea they might need adjusted at that time. And I'm sure once you add a pipe and jet it and do anything to the bike that warranty will be worth nothing. I worked at a dealer and they will find any little reason to void that warranty and tell you that you can drive off a cliff and the warranty will cover the bent frame just to sell you the thing. I buy a warranty for something I plan to not modify.
I asked the dealer that sold me my Can Am 4x4 if I put taller tires on it will it void my 3 year warr and he said not if I buy the tires from him.
Just change your oil and do normal maint.... and keep a record of what you do and you will be fine....
