Chain Tension Question
Any tips on how to know if one's chain is properly tensioned? Mine sags a bunch when the bike is just sitting there. The tops span lays onto the rubber "guide" or whatever underneath. It looks pretty floppy. I can take pics this evening, but for now, can anyone enlighten me on what is the proper way for it to hang when idle?
Also, I am assuming that you adjust it by loosening the rear axle and rotating the cam looking things with notches. Is that right?
Thanks.

RE: Chain Tension Question
EMS,
When you say 2.2-2.5" of play, is that total amplitude (max to min) or amount of deflection from centerline? Also, I am assuming that you measure that on the bottom span since the top span bottoms out on the swing arm at it's lowest point of travel. Does that sound right?
Thanks.

RE: Chain Tension Question
You measure the top span from the top of the swingarm to the bottom of the chain. Lift the chain with your fingers and measure from the back of the plastic slide where it screws into the swingarm. I think there's a diagram of how to take the measurement in the owners manual - see page 109.

RE: Chain Tension Question
Yea don't ever have the chain tight with no weight on the bike, the first time you work the suspension it will snap. Its better to have a chain that is a little too loose than one that is tight.
