Chain Lubrication
#13
I hate working on a dirty bike; it gets washed after every trail ride (usually 20-35 mi.) or dual sport ride (usually about 100 mi.). I don't use a power washer, just a garden hose and Simple Green. By the time I'm done washing the bike (no Simple Green on the chain though) the chain is clean. After everything is dry, I hit the chain with a chain lube product distributed by Arctic Cat. It has enough solvent to flow the lube between the plates and o-rings. After the solvent evaporates, the lube is dry to the touch; it has a kind of graphite feel. Dirt/mud/dust don't stick to the chain. Some chain lubes that I've used are so sticky/oily and attract so much dirt, it kind of defeats the point of lubing a chain. The only problem I have with the DuPont teflon spray lube is that it can penetrate into the chain rollers, basically melting out the grease inside the rollers.

Found this site today while doing some searching.

It compares different brands of chain lubes/waxes. The Klotz KLR is what they found best. Havent seen or heard of that stuff yet. Course i havent really looked around much either .
Hope this helps someone else too. I think ill be sticking with the Maxima chain guard tho.
Thanks for all the replies.
