In case you get tired of green...

RE: In case you get tired of green...
I would take the orange over green. The black looked good also. Sure would be nice to have a set of street wheels for my little KLX. Sometimes I see a real nice set of turns and think.........

So the D-Tracker boasts 29 horse. Is it not the same as our KLX's? I thought mine was 18 horse. Seems a BIG differance. What is it that makes that much more power? Is it just the smaller wheels and different gearing.

RE: In case you get tired of green...
Ok, being the engineer that I am I did a bit of research and here's what I came up with, there's no way our low maint. KLX trail bike puts out 29 hp out of the box. For reference here's a Dyno hp/torque for the Husky TE 250 after jetting mods etc .... 33.2 hp.
A little more research indicated that quite a few of hp measurements are done at the flywheel, not the wheel on the ground. Doesn't suprise me though, outboard mfgs do the same thing.... I want the measurement done at the prop or the wheel for this forum.
Off topic, but the TE450 will be my next ride with a whopping 44.5 hp and weighs only ~240 lbs dry...... but I've got a LOT of learning before I play with a machine like that. Perhaps a year or two or so...... but I plan on keeping the KLX for what it is..... a fun easy to ride street legal trail bike.
EDIT: I just looked at the dyno curve for the 450..... I may be getting to old for that LOL.

OMG look at this curve for the TE510.... 30hp @ only 5K rpms with 30 ft-lbs torque at the same rpms and a max hp of 53 hp, no wonder that guy lost it on his brand new 510 in the ADV forums with only 10 miles. BTW I think the 510 weighs about the same as our ride.
One little blip and you're up!
