yeah. And from the sounds of it...maybe a smaller main jet if your plug is black.

I run the stock needle (AUS spec N1RX, the number is printed on the side of the needle).
As I recall, when I first got the bike new it ran good with the stock settings. #132 main, #35 pilot, FS 2 turns out. Stick with the main jet at 132, the bike loves it above 5K. I would go back to the stock needle and try it. I think you'll have some success as that is the stock setting here in AUS. I raised the stock needle up using the OE collar you have to buy when you fit the KLX300 needle (N1TC.) I did this when I went larger (#138) on the main jet and pilot jet (now #38). The WOT performance is great. I won't be changing the main jet. I went down the OE jetting road on advice from the guys that ran 3 KLX250's in the AUS Thumper Nationals race series. It was their opinion that the OE needle (N1RX) was easier to tune with the 250cc bike (We're not talking about big bores or the 300cc here.) If you haven't tried the stock neddle it's worth a go. If it then runs lean you can raise the stock needle with one of the collars you get in the DJ kit or purchase some washers from Kawasaki and use them to raise the needle. Kawasaki part #92022-1003.

Here's a quote from the Sept/Oct issue of Trailzone magazine while testing the 09 KLX250S.
"Our test bike was derestricted and benefited from a new carby slide (part #43028-1081 - $167.39), #138 main jet (92063-1015 - $10.40), needle washer (92022-1003 - $1.43) that goes under the needle clip, the air box snorkel being removed and the mixture screw set at 2.25 turns out."

Hey man, I got a NEWS Alert lol..

Last night I took off the air box lid again just to decide if the bike is too rich or too lean..

I rode it awhile ago and the sluggishness is mostly gone, but is there just a little.. So that confirms the bike is rich.. So I'm happy that I atleast rectified the problem.. One of these days, I'll change the needle clip position from 3rd to 2nd..

Thank you soo much WESTOZ!!!

I really appreciated all you guys replies!!!

Jamie

The bigger hole (7/64") will increase the throttle response. No performance gains. The CVK style carb' has no direct connection between the throttle and the carb' slide. It relies totally on a vacuum to lift the slide. Making the hole bigger will allow the slide to be raised faster when you open the throttle.

2nd from top? That's the second notch down from the blunt end, pointy end pointing down. (you want to lean the midrange out a bit?)

See the attachment. Gives some info on how to tune the jet needle.
If you feel the 1/8 to 3/4 throttle range is too rich then yes try the clip on the second notch.
