Car reversing camera
Disclaimer: This thread has nothing to do with bikes, well almost
It seems my father is having troubles backing their (mum & dad's) car these days so as Christmas is coming up my mother asked me to have a look at awireless (no cables between the camera and the monitor)reversing camera system that she saw in a catalog. I did some research on the net and also went and looked at the box in the store (on the trusty KLX.... token bike content [&:]), the one she asked me to look at had a 3.5" display and there was also another one with a 2.5" display. Exactly the same just the different screen sizes.
The box looked the goods so I came home and chatted to mum about it (yes she uses MSN and email) and pointed her to the links I found on the net. Seeing as it was for Dad she got him to choose and he selected the 3.5". Back down the store (again on the KLX )and asking for it I was told it was the last one in the store []as they were on special. Anyway I bought it home and opened it up and had a look see.
The long black thing in the middle of the pic is the license plate mount the camera lens is in the middle and the white dots beside the camera are infrared LED's for night driving. Themonitor is at the top and you can mountit acouple ofdifferent ways. There is a suction mount down the bottom of the pic, you can also mount it to theair vents. You can power themonitor either with a cigarette lighter adaptor orit can behard wired to the fuse panel. The camera is powered from the reversing light wire and themonitor turns on when you select reverse. The monitor also has an hardwired camera input so I imagne you could hook up a video ipod type of thing and watch movies.
If anyone is interested I'll report back after Christmas on what it's like.
Cheers [8D]

RE: Car reversing camera
The backup camerais standard equipment on the new Lexus ES350 that I bought. It's one the features that I like the most. There are a lot of kids in my neighborhood (they always seem to be running up and down the sidewalk in front of my house) and I really worry about plowing one of them over while backing out of the garage.
