Can you see in your mirrors
#11
OK, so on this topic of mirrors and seeing behind you, I have been toying with an idea, but haven't done it yet as I don't know if it's a little *****.
I ride my bike to and from work daily, and one of the biggest gripes I have is that there is a massive blind spot directly behind you that cars easily hide in. So I am thinking of using a cheap car reversing camera as a "chase cam". You can get really cheap LCD screens off eBay like this (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....=STRK:MEWAX:IT) that can be powered off the battery and hooked up to the revering cam.
I doubt I'm the first to think of this, so has anyone else tried it? Obviously it won't be an option in the rain unless you put it in a waterproof sheath, and I am unsure how well it would work in bright sunlight (washed out screen). But any feedback would be good.

No stinkin camera
I just want to keep track of what is going on behind me.
Looking at the bike in post #8 I can see the mirror hangs a little over half past the end of the bar grip. Looking at the bike using the door way as a plumb, It looks like more than half the mirror is past the outside of the handlebars. On my SF model, most of the mirror is directly over the hand grip.
Wider is better for me.
