Default Can you get rid of the battery with a kickstarter installed ?

I couldn't find if this question has been answered. I'm more than willing to install and use a kickstarter to save the weight of the battery (I consider the kickstarter stuff to be almost a wash with the starter itself).

Yes, I do belive. Battery eliminating kits.. I have seen them on ebay. Don't know how they work, or how well.

You'll need this to replace the battery with:

Haha, floor it? Floor what?
I think I know what you mean, but more like... Roll-er-back, or something more bike related?

Yeah, you would need a battery eliminator kit which consists mainly of a capacitor that takesover thenatural filtering ability of your battery. I believe you can find them at BajaDesignes as well.

I'm not sure what you are shooting for, but why even bother unless you are racing? Big deal if you trim a few pounds. Does anyone seriously think this will transform our KLXfrom a mildmannered dual sport into a fire breathing dragon? I really don't get it. The kick start version is much less reliabledue to the bad design of the idle gear...and, if you don't change the ACR timing, the idle gear will wear-out even faster..not to mention the bike will be harder to start. Talk about reverse engineering. Oh well, have at it if you feel that trimming a couple of poundswilldeliver off road nervana, but let's justsay I'm skeptical.

I couldn't imagine trying to start this bike by kicking it after it has been sitting for a few days with the fuel left on....I can read the ad now:

"FS: 2007 KLX250s, broken right leg forces sale, needs engine work....bike ran when I put it away a few weeks ago, will not start....best offer"

For a mer couple of pounds I wouldn't give up the button. Kill the motor on a side hill or a switch back and only one foot can reach the ground you have the button. I lo-o-o-ve the button.

My battery feels like it weighs 10 pounds. If you could also remove the starter motor I'm sure it weighs a good 3 to 5 lbs.
Not that I would do that, but they are pretty heavy pieces, and the battery is high up on the frame too.
