Thanks David for posting what I feel is a good write-up on this mod. All camshafts are a compromise, more power here and less there. Nothing any different here, with this mod it may benifit some people in an area of the power band but will hurt it in others. Seemed too good to be true to me from the beginning.

So the guy was hoping the mod would make the wheel come up in 2nd and it doesn't, THEN he embarass himself in front in front of the kids because he can't wheelie the bike with the mod done and that's a good write up?
I guess to each its own.

I don't know for sure, but judging by some of David's past posts, he might have been injecting some humor in this whole deal.

I bought the bike NO wheelies.
Did air box mods and re jetted. No wheelies
Added 351 and exhaust mod. Wheelies Now in first!
Added TM36-68 slide carb. Wheelies in first and second!
Changed gearing from 14/39 to 15/39. No more wheelies in second.
I could loop it in first easily. Always cover the rear brake.
Did cam mod, will pick up front wheel in first, but not hold it there.
UN did cam mod. Wheelie all the way across the parking lot this morning.
Take it for what its worth.

OR as some would say, to each his own.

I fixed it today. Added racing numbers to the front and sides. Now it goes much faster.

Huh.. my 351 wheelies in 1st and 2nd, and also thrid if I give it a pull first.

Maybe it's the wesson vegetable oil that I use in the crank case?

Believe me, it's not the bike. But I guess we just have diff ways of thinking what a wheelie is.

Carry on.

I don't think it's about what is or isn't a wheelie, or what one person calls a wheelie and the other does. I think it's about how individuals measure performance. Since we all don't have a dyno, that's going to be different. Some do top gear roll ons under consistent conditions - some do front wheel pick ups under consistent conditions. Differences in how the bike responds in each should be an indicator of change in performance - one persons wheelie vs. anothers doesn't mean much with different techniques thrown in. These changes are relative & subjective though - can't compare a roll on change to a 'wheelie' change, they are different measures. Also a big reason for the different takes on cam mod results - until everyone measures the differences the exact same measured way (like on the same dyno with the same constraints), there likely won't be a consensus.

Toe-MAY-toe, toe-mah-toe...

Oh yeah? Well I looped my bike in 6th gear after the cam mod. From a 70mph roll, twice, and landed it.

No, but seriously I was wondering about wheelies. My bike is still a 250, im 190lbs, has stock gearing, and has no trouble in first gear pulling up the front tire, in 2nd it takes some coaxing BUT now I don't need to clutch wheelie first or 2nd, and it comes up FAST. I just wonder how these bikes got such a bad wrap.... I switched bikes with a friend for a few hrs, rode my friends yami R6... now I def don't want a rocket (too stiff, rider position sucked, visibility was less too). Now he wants to get a motard and sell his rocket lol.
