Buttom gasket seal?

Default Buttom gasket seal?

Does the buttom gasket on the cylinder need to be sealed with sealent?

I don't remember if I put sealant on mine... I don't think so...

Man thats what i was thinking too. However im getting minor oil seapage from that buttom seam. Anyone have any ideas?

I used the same sealant on the bottom gasket as I did on the head gasket. No leaks, I'm pretty sure the manual says to seal it.

Thanks man, Your talking about the gasket that is below the piston and the timing chain spring?

Yes, the bottom one. There are three: the rubber cover gasket, the head gasket tha separates the piston and valves, and the last one that separates the piston bore from the bottom of the engine.

And unfortunately that's the one that needs everything off to get to.

When I changed my HG, I contemplated going further and doing that gasket again.. But I really didn't feel like pulling the piston out of the cylinder and getting it back in again - so I forgot about it..

No seepage though so I guess it's all good.

Bummer man, Right now its minor oil seapage. Im gonna pick up the new carb from Bill Blue. When i install that ill just do the whole job again. Thanks for the help guys.

Get a new HG too.. Or at least call cometic and ask if you can re-use it.
