Buy a Muzzy exhuast system. You'll be upping your HP and still be forest legal.

Mudhore,

ANY year of the KLX300, or a certain range of years that fit?

Watt-man....first welcome to kf.............as far as i kmow any year klx 300 system will work? I have an 2006....You just have to make sure that you get the whole exhaust system header pipe plus the muffler! The 300 muffler will not fit in the 250 header! good luck!

Much thanks Gents,

I decided that I'm not getting any younger and that the summers here are way too short to not enjoy the KLX to its potential and went ahead and ordered the FmF Q4 with the Mega-Bomb header pipe..!!

Also ordered the Dynojet kit #2206 for the klx300 to match... Parts should arrive next week.

I plan on doing all the "free mods" at the same time, (including cutting the screen out of the air filter) and thanks to everyone's advice i think i've got a pretty good idea on how to tune the CVK although i haven't purchased a larger Pilot Jet as of yet.

I guess before spending money on that item i though i would gain some feedback from the Forum.... It seems to me that most folks (at lower elevations) are running the 38 or 40 pilot jet, and i've also read somewhere that shimming the needle with the stock pilot has the same effect...? That that is why the DJkit doesnt come with it..?

In any event I understand that setting the idle air mixture screw "between stumbles" is the key to determining the correct pilot jet to use and am hoping y'all can save me a trip to my Kawi dealer and help me get it right the first time.

As always, any advice is much appreciated.

Much thanks again and sincerely yours,
The great white NorthRider.

Mudhore, one more question - are you running it with or without the butt plug? I was under the impression that with the plug, it's quiet like a stock 250, but with it out, how loud is it in your opinion? I know these things are hard to quantify.
