Butt farkle!!
So tonight I got bored. I got an idea! Let's take something that'll be expensive to replace and take it apart even though we really are not quite sure about what we're doing is right.
I started my seat project. I took the staples off the seat and removed the cover so far. Now to shape some foam and glue it to the existing foam. Then to stretch a new cover on it.

I got the foam glued on and the sheet of covering cut. Got a few staples in it then the project came to a screeching halt when the stapler I borrowed from my dad stopped working because it's a complete piece of shyt that he got in a box of junk at a farm auction 25 years ago. In the morning I'm going to Home Depot to buy a stapler.

I got an air stapler and I got it done. I don't have enough strength in my hands to really stretch the wrinkles out of a few spots. It'll do for now. I'm going to do it again next summer when it's really hot outside and the vinyl gets all soft and gooey. The seat height is 5/8"-3/4" higher now and it's a little wider and softer now. My butt bones don't bottom out on the pan like they did before.

Firmer seats are more comfortable to me...if they are wide enough. Then, wear padded bike shorts (and nothing else) next to your skin, under your riding pants. This ultra-padded setup you made would be miserable to ride for more than just a short time.
I have the Corbin seat for an 09, which is significantly wider than stock, and very firm. I just rode the Barstow-Las Vegas ride, all the hard ways, 256 miles plus another 30 miles home, and NEVER, not once, did my sitting area bother me. And, I'm one of those that sits a lot, standing only when required due to the terrain.

I've been toying with this idea for a while. I re-did an old snowmobile seat once, that one involved cutting & stitching - and almost killed wifeys sewing machine. It turned out good though. Not sure I have the ambition & patience for projects like that any more - how about a decent pic of the Corbin seat, maybe even side by side with the stocker for comparison?
