Hey nobrakes sorry to here about the overheating on the klx. Do you have the fans set up to push the air or pull the air ? Most cases you want it to pull so you are not fighting mother nature. I like your idea on mounting some fans on the other radiator.Good luck hope you beat it.

Hey Nobrakes, those riding areas look awesome, I wish I could ride there with ya. Let us know how the cooling fans work out. I have almost 3000 miles on my bike and the fan only came on once on a really technical trail and the first time I heard it I was like sweet it works. It cycled for 20 seconds every 3 minutes or so. Haven't heard it since.

im just wondering if those little fans move enough of volume of air to get it across the radiator, i know they are fast, but the stock fan is alot bigger, especially the blades, i would imagine that the stock fan moves more volume of air... which would pull more air over the rad, well maybe im wrong... just my opinion...

I see that you got your Vapor. Do you mind giving a review on it? I was thinking about getting one, but being that they are fairly new, I can't find very much info on it. Thanks.

Great catch there, BigRig. Looks like dinner!
Scat, I've got the fans set up to pull like the stock fan. I think with all four fans they are approaching if not exceeding the air flow of the stock fan. Two may have been a little weak, but four spread out on both radiators now flow a lot of air. Note that on Saturday I only had two fans on the right radiator, none on the left. Sunday, I added two to the left and replaced the two on the right, so now have double the air flow.
Deej, you've got some of the best riding in the world out where you are. I'd love to put some rides together out your way. I used Google Maps to look at your area and it appears you could really put together some fantastic combinations of forest service roads and trails. Also, my radiator fans don't come on during normal riding. Even on tight single-track they rarely come on, just on these very hot 100 F + days. But bushwhacking is a totally different animal - you are typically inching along, revving and clutching alot, with zero air flow through the radiators, and that was for about an hour and a half except when I stopped to cool down. I can't say for sure, but I think the stock radiator fan would be hard pressed in that situation as well.
EMS_0525, I'm sure the stock fan moves more air. I added the extra pair on the left side to make up for it. They seemed to do better on my test ride yesterday.
Dazjr - in a nutshell, I really like the Vapor. I'll follow up in a seperate thread and review it to make it easier for folks to find. One thing I really like about it is that it gives an actual temperature reading for your coolant (engine temp). It's up to you whether you want to measure the hot side or the cool side by your placement of the sensor. Another thing I like and why I got it in the first place is that it accurately measures speed. My stock speedo was off over 10% according to my GPS. That can be dangerous, IMO, as it would increase your chances of being rear ended on the highway if you are not going at least the speed limit. With the Vapor, I'm right on with the GPS down to 1/10th of an MPH. It also displays RPM so you don't lose that information.

In a related question, I was wondering if anyone out there makes a small bar mount temp gauge that can be installed on a bike? I would love to see what the temp is doing in different conditions. ???

Oh sorry I thought we were showing fish pictures now I couldn't resist.
Here is my first real big fish I caught last year. 32lb female King Salmon
And the year before my first big Steelhead. 15 lb.
I have lived and fished here since I was a kid, and have caught more fish in the last two years than in all the years before........I wonder if it has something to do with getting off the bank and into the rivers.
I love my new toy.
Although for years I would fish from the banks and catch nothing, while drift boats were getting all the fish, and now I go down the river and see guys on the banks catching fish and I get skunked. LOL Such is life.
