I run the bike up to 8,000 on shifts and yes the skid plate will make all those sounds even louder. Oh and welcome man if I didn't say it before.
Thanks for the welcome. This is a great forum especially HOTD lol. Love them Brunettes.

Well, I put 60 more miles on her today(all street). The 4000 rpm break in is killin' me. I can't wait to open up the throttle and see what she'll do.

G'day and welcome to the best KLX250 forum on the planet.

Don't be afraid to give it a little more on occasion. I don't mean living on the redline but a squirt now and then up to say around 6,000 won't hurt it.

Cheers

I got my bike a week ago and I'm breaking the sucker in like i'm gonna always ride it.I broke mine in the mototune way and can really feel the difference in how it revs now that I have put miles on it. The noises i hear don't seem to loud to me since I jumped from a yz to the klx. I have to say what a blast this little bike is and get odd looks cruizing through town on a dirtbike and it's legal.

Thanks Man, The most I hit was 4500 Rpm's Today. Took a 2nd little trip for 50 miles all on the street. I just would like to be able to cruise at 60 mph. I know I'll be able to in a few hundred more miles. It's real cool the way people look at this bike when you ride by. People think it's a dirt bike and cops always do a double take. I love this bike Man!!

Cool Man! Have you done the 1st oil change? I'm sure it'll be fine the way you broke it in. I am so tempted to just mash the throttle on mine. I'm sure that the rings will seat just fine with either break in method possibly even better with the Mototune technique. I hope that KLX owners will chime in about how they broke in theirs and how they are today, Especially long time owners.

i broke mine it by riding it like would everyday but maybe a tiny bit gentler than i do nowadays . mine runs great and i just took my airbox lid off completely today and i think i gained a at least 1hp. but i have rejetted and also have the twobrothers pipe. by the way, for some reason, at around 1000 miles my bike really came alive and it happened all of a sudden, i remember that....it was before i did any mods. very wierd but i was happy. and i now have many many many more miles on it. 14450. and if u get a slip on pipe i highly suggest the 2brothers it is crazy nice.

I mototuned mine for the first 20 miles. Full redline shifts and lots of decel braking. Changed the oil after 20 miles, and then rode it like I would normaly.
