Default Break Away Mirrors

Any thoughts on some type of break away mirror for the right side?

Not comfortable with the mirror attached to an expensive master cylinder.

Looks like a break just waiting to happen.

Break mirror - expected sometimes and not to much $$.

Break Master Cyl at same time - Should NOT happen and to much $$$.

check out a doubletake mirror on a ram mount for off road riding. It won't break away. And it won't break. It will just "slip" back. I put them on handlebar with the ball mount. I wouldn't put the ball on a mirror mount. I have the ball mounts on mountain bike, snowmobile, ATV, and KLX. Put GPS or doubletake mirror on them.

I have used stock mirriors on my dual sports for 30 or so years and never snapped anything but the mirrior in a crash. I do leave my preches slightly loose so they will spin instead of break in a crash. I'm sure you could break more but repeated endo's have not proved fatal for anything but the mirriors in my case.

Good to know... I took a hard spill last year (broke my collar bone). The back of my right mirror got scuffed up pretty bad, but nothing broke (except me, of course).

Just my two cents, but I only use mirrors when I ride on the street. Off-road, whatever goes on behind me is history.

Frankly, I think they're a safety hazard off-road. Bad enough getting tossed on the handlebars. Getting impaled by a mirror would just make your day.....
