Brakes rubbing on front rotor, easy solution?
Okay, looking for some help. Searched all the brake threads but nothing doing. I noticed about 1 week ago that after the first 5 minutes of a ride a squeek develops from the front brake. It looks like the rotor is rubbing on the brake pads. It never did this before. I changed the pads and tried bleeding the brakes a little but only got worse because of the decrease in clearance from the new pads. Any ideas on what's happening here and what I need to do? Thanks gents.

Pads are seated fine and i am sure it isn't the "speedo." When I have the bike up on a jack and I try spinning the front wheel it doesn't spin freely because of resistance from the pads. It was just the same before I changed the pads. I have never messed with the front brake system other than switching out the master cylinder cover for an aftermarket red aluminum job. The noise just started happening a week or so ago.

I'm not sure all the air is out of the line, but not sure how the air got there since it wasn't a problem until about 1 week ago. Does air get into the line spontaneously after time? My bike has about 3500 miles on it, I know it's not much, but never had a problem before.

I would try draining out the fluid, pull the pads, make sure you pinch back the caliper all the way, then put it all back together and re-bleed the system and reinstall the stock cover. See how that works. Then if it is all ok put the red cover back on and try again.

Red, I think you might be right but that wasn't the "easy solution" I was looking for. Thanks for the response and I'll be taking a trip to the parts star for some brake fluid. Don't have my manual handy, what type of brake fluid do I want to get exactly?
