Both were sweet bikes.

The Dakar is quite tall, well for me anyway.
The new G650 has a no cost lowering kit option which made it OK.
Yeah, something about the parallel twins are intrigueing. The F650GS also comes with a lowered from the factory option...here in Japan anyway. Interesting that they're still calling something with an 800cc engine a '650,' but I guess BMW just wants to add that to its quirky image.

Must be some sort of wacky German joke.

F650 for years was a 650 single.
Now its a parallel twin 800.
And the 650 single became a G.

The F800 is a far more appealing bike to me than the F650.
More power and better off road.
Looks horn as well.
And the G650 is a great bike even with its Chinese Rotax, but at $A14000 its an expensive thumper.
Is it worth 2 Dr's or KLR's?

The old Dakar thats been bought here is a ripper.
Bigger front wheel and a bit more suspension I think compared to a "stock" F650. Not 100% sure.

I looked at a 650 G quite some time ago, but decided it was too high maintenance, and not enough off-road for what I wanted to be able to do. However, it's an awesome bike, and is back in consideration for a street ride for the wife and I (V-Strom is another consideration)
