I traded my DL650 for the KLX. I've had at least four people ask me why I would want take such a drop in horsepower. I'm not sure what the KLX's number is (low 20's?), so that's like 1/3 the power, but it weighs around 150 lbs less than the DL, so that makes up for some lost beans. It's hard for me to explain, but I'm having no regrets.

Now, the DL is no where near the Gixxer 600 for sure, but that sweet little v-twin was enough to tempt me. I found on the DL that, while I was usually just motoring along enjoying the sights and sounds and having fun, I couldn't help but wring the sucker out on a regular basis, despite my better judgement. Or I would get behind some cars and try to make myself just settle in and relax, but eventually I'd end up getting frustrated and pinning the throttle in a mad dash to get around the cars. I'd get around the cars, or do my high speed running, drawn in by the rush, but after I came back to down, I'd feel remorseful and guilty for breaking the law and risking my ***. Maybe it's some sort of character flaw, I don't know. I'm willing to admit that it's a side of me that I'm clearly not completely in control of. (Now that I think about it, my dad was the same way...hmm? Was his dad that way too? And so on, etc.)

Anyhow...enter the KLX. Now this is a bike I can wring it out for all it's worth, and still be mostly at legal speeds. I don't get the sudden impulses to make stupid passes anymore, because I know it's just not going to happen. So I'm having a blast, and hoping to avoid anymore high speed shenanigans (until I can get my head screwed on straight).

 

Hmm...a 4 cylinder turbo mustang making over 400rwhp isnt worth much on the market now a days..especially with crappy paint...

Nice! The complete opposite of the "if it don't go... chrome it" school. It's all about that stonkin' turbo and fat intercooler. Sort of reminds me of an '85 LX hatch I once had back in the day. We used to go to the beach in Pensacola from New Orleans, get too wasted to drive back, so we'd fold the back seats down and pass out. [sm=alcoholic.gif] Wake up hungover in the back of a car, at the beach, all crusty from partyin' in the sand. What could be better?

Oh, BTW. That Gixxer is pretty sweet too.

As for the bike. Yeah. I'm pretty sure I'd end up being that guy you see on the evening news who got arrested for going 150 mph. (Or perhaps I'd make myself into road pizza!)

 

How will you get arrested if you dont stop?..Road pizza..nah...you wouldnt do that to urself..only the guy next to you in the BMW would....but he'll do it to you on your KLX as well...

Anyways about the car...the LS1 guys dont like me very much..lol The SRT4 guys dont, either.
