ORIGINAL: Gravy Train

First, I havent heard from him since he said he's farwell to all of us.. He just kinda took off and didn't look back. I still have his phone number but havent called him. Maybe I will and give you guys all an update on him.

About the chain and sprocket combo. I have been looking for wear and tear but the sprocket looked fine. However, with the chain I have noticed that I have to keep moving my back tire to the rear more and more. The chain is getting longer. I put the chain and sprocket on at the same time about 800 and some change miles ago. I wouldnt think that the sprocket and chain would get bad that fast would it.
Tell him we were asking about him - hope he's burning up the MX track on his YZ!

On the chain / sprocket - I wonder if maybe a rock or something got kicked up in there somehow and broke off those teeth?

I think 800 miles is way too short for chain life. I'm still using my stock O-ring chain and I did a wear check on it and it hasn't budged from the standard wear range. To check the wear, hang a 20 lb weight on the lower chain to stretch it taut. Then measure the distance between 21 pins, from the 0th to the 21st inclusive should be 318 mm (12.52 inches). The service limit is 323 mm (12.72 inches) so if it gets to there, it has stretched too much and needs replacing. This is from the service manual.

The only time I've seen broken teeth were either a small rock got jammed in there or the chain was WAY too tight. I'd vote for the former since you aren't a noob on chain maintenance.

If you notice in the close up shot of the new sprocket the lip is on the wrong side... it should be facing in... lucky I fixed it before I put the bolt on... LOL...
