Cool Bike won't rev past 5k

i took it out of the garage today, wharmed it up, took it for a ride around the yard, and it tried to kill me. got to a spot where i needed to accelerate, and it bogged down like it was out of gas, and now it won't rev past 5k. plenty of gas, changed the petcock to reserve just because, and it still wont rev. pulled the plug and it shows its running rich. its bone stock with the exception of the dealer drilling out my pilot jet to 38. any quick ideas before i take it back and make 'em fix it under warranty? im kinda thinking that when they drilled the pilot out caused it to run to rich, and clogged the cat.

Sounds like the dealer may have screwed something up when they drilled the jet. As it's on warranty I would take it back and have them fix it. That's what the warranty is for.

In addtion to the air intake, how about the Exhuast ? I had a mouse make a nice condo complex in my muffler before. Would start right up and run but wouldn't rev.

CA wasn't included with the KLX. The 06' & 07' models were only 49 or 48 state legal. The newer 09'+ have an evap system which now complies with CARB emissions.

Before you start jumping the gun with major problems. Start with the smaller stuff first. For starters, it could be the needle is stuck partly open or the fuel bowl float is out of spec. Try draining the fuel bowl first and try some carb cleaner additive.

If you have the stock carb I would check the diaphragm for a hole or for an improper seal on the lip. If you don't have a CV carb anymore then check the basics mentioned in an earlier post.
