Default Bike stalls when clutch engages

My bike has decided to shut down as soon as I put it in gear, and release the clutch lever. It runs fine in neutral. I can even put it in gear, and it's ok until I start to pull away. The only thing I can think of is the side stand safety switch. Any other ideas, before I bypass it?

Newbies take note: search first, ask second.

I checked around, found a link that explained just how easy bypassing the kick stand safety switch is, bypassed said switch in about 3 minutes, and now have a properly running KLX.

Get rid of the clutch switch too while you're at it, just "lawyer" parts. IMHO. YMMV.

If you're like me & sometimes leave the stand down before taking off. You put it in gear, it stalls and I think to myself "oops that could have been messy."

It has never given me trouble and if it did, I would repair it at the first opportunity. I guess that's the risk you run bypassing safety devices. Would you bypass the kill switch if faulty?

How many times have you taken off with the kickstand down?
It only takes once and you get a big surprise.
disable at your own risk.

I disabled mine trailside because it was killing the motor in the rough stuff.
I just trained myself to double check the kickstand. I often kick it out of the way, go to let the clutch out, and kick it out of the way, only to realize I already did it.
I have yet to ride off with the stand down.
It's just like flying, it's part of my pre-flight checks now.

I'm aware that my steel pony can bite me if I don't operate it correctly.

Sorry about the lecture. The OP has weighed up the pros & cons and has made a decision in their best interest.

I took mine off because I didn't want my engine to unexpectedly die on me and not know what was going on. I've never had a problem remembering to kick it up. As soon as I sit on the bike it compresses and I can feel the kickstand hit the ground.

I must not be the only one to forget as OEM's avoid the installation of unnecessary components (unless they're bound by legislation e.g. anti-smog equipment) as it raises cost & complexity during production.
