My dealer just took in a WR on trade. They want $4900 for it, but it is a SM. I think it would be a hassle making it dirt worthy. I would rather start on the knobby side of things and work the other way around.

I like the new WR for the dirt, but they are $1k more. Are they worth it? I guess if the power and suspension are superior then they might be. I actually like the looks of the Kawi better. In fact I LOVE this one:

Ok, still leaning towards the new bike. Got quoted an even better price. If I get it and it is too slow I guess I will just have to mod it right?

I rode with a guy i work with that has a stock WR w/ non DOT dirt tires, my bike with the pipe and jetting was just about even with him even when we switched. I didn't care for the taller seat height since im a towering 5'7" but it was ride able. Itd be nice to have but not a 1000 dollars more nice. Bike felt slightly heavier too.

I think I'd vote you get the KX125. As someone else mentioned, your son won't be able to ride on the streets with you. From what others have stated the KX would be more powerful and weigh less, it'd be a far more worthy trail bike than the KLX.

Depending on what type trails you ride, you'll definately need a change in sprocket(s) to make the KLX fun offroad, and better tires, then you've all but ruined the streetability of it, and you still won't have as good of an offroad bike as the KX125.

So I would suggest you get the KX125, just my .02

Now that is a sharp looking bike! I wondered what replacing just the rear covers and front fork guards on the red 09 would look like. Blacked out SM rims and a new front spring....drooool....
