Default BigBore FCR Jetting

Hey guys, I have in posession one beautiful 340cc big bore kit from Bill Blue, I might begin installing it tonight. I disassembled and cleaned my FCR a few days ago.. lordy, lots of little brass threaded things with holes in them! : )

Nagging me though is jetting.. I've read all over the place that a bigger bore will increase the suction of air through the carb, and so many people actually have to lean out their jets. Bill Blue sys to richen up a point. I read on TT, a guy with a 331 posted his settings... they're substantially different than my current settings, so I'm hesitant to change it all over, because my bike was running great before I took it all apart.

The theory of leaning it out makes sense to me.. But I really don't know. I guess I could just send the carb to a tech and get it set up, but I'd rather save a few $$$ bucks.

SO, any theories/actual experience with basic jetting rules? Am in in for a dozen jet changes/plug readings?

Anyone has sent their FCR35 out to get tuned, what did it cost you, where did you send it?

thanks for any and all input or ideas. I'm probably just going to raise the needle a clip and mount it without changing much for the first few heat cycles.. but after that I want to get it dialed.

Hmm, just got am email from Thumper racing: "On our kits. We start with a 38 pilot, 138 main, and the stock needle in the 4th position."

Over at thumper talk I found CRFrider's sweet setup for his 330/FCR: "I put in a 158 main and 58 pilot left the needle and fuel screw where they were at 4th clip and 1.5 out, and took off the airbox lid"

My FCR's current setup (supposedly from a 300, runs great with my 250): -48 Pilot, -DVR needle, 4th clip from end, -162 Main, -fuel screw 1 1/4 out, -200 main air jet, -pilot air 1 1/8 turns out.

settings all over the place.

just gonna mount it and run it

Update, I just got word from FSWks on their initial settings: "jetting seems close, try this: move up on pilot to 52 55 58, leave needle, drop main to 158, fuel screw 1 and a half ok. 1 and 1 quarter-okay, 200 main pilot ok but try 1 and a half out."

I guess I'll order some jets and start there.. Close to CRFrider's setup..

getting it together tonight, I lost a dowel pin somewhere... hopefully my dealer's got one, I want to get this 340 pumpin!!
