Big Gun Quiet Core
I purchased a Big Gun for my KLX and it was supposted to come with Vortex insert but did not. I took apart and it does look like it has quiet core insert installed instead of Vortex. Do they come this way and is the core in the exhaust not the quiet core? I'm new and not really sure? Is there a seperate core that comes for these exhausts that is not the quiete core? Thanks

i thaught they were just supposed to come with a quiet core... not sure about the vortex insert. Mine came with the spark arrestor and quiet core installed...

I think the quiet core is extra. whatever one you see is just the vortex. just put it on and be done with it. what's with everyone dissecting their exhaust when they receive it?

The race core is just a straight through tube with holes all along its length.
I think the Quiet Core is similar to the race core, but it has a series of half-circle baffles along the length of the tube that divert exhaust flow into the packing. Performance takes a slight hit because there's more back pressure, but that's the trade-off in order to reduce the sound level.
The Vortex tip takes a different approach to reduce sound, and is easier to install & remove.

EMS- do you have an insert that goes the length of the whole muffler with tiny holes or does yours look different than what i'm describing? if i do have the race insert, i'm gonna write to BG and request the vortex insert because i'm probably missing out on some power with that race insert in, though i can't imagine it taking much power away.

Mine came with the vortex seperate and I installed it it also came with a spacer ring if you chose not to use it... Not sure about that quiet core I never looked in to see what was in there. It said for race leave all out for woods riding put spark arrester screen in for quiet put vortex in ..
