BIG GUN ON- First quick ride report
Well, I couldn't stand it so I went ahead and installed the system on the KLX, which took all of 10 minutes. It looks tons better than the old ugly oem exhaust to start with. Second, it is tons lighter as well, plus you don't have to use one of the mounting bolts so you lose that weight as well. Third, the passenger footpeg clears no problem so you don't have to keep removing and installing if your 6-year old wants a ride. This is something I don't think the Muzzy guys can brag about as their pipes either weren't engineered correctly or Muzzy just thinks there should be only one rider on the KLX or it was built for the 300 which I don't think has passenger footpegs.
Here's where it gets interesting- push the starter button..........aaaaaaaaaaaaahhh that's what I'm talking about. No more "Honda Express" or "Yamaha Jog" moped sound. No, this sounds like a true 4-stroke hotrod. With the quiet insert in which comes standard the thing is loud enough for me and I like loud. I would say this is at least nearly as loud as my '05 400ex I just sold which had a Yoshimura off-road slip on. Then I had to ride it a little bit even though I know I need to rejet. I let it warm just a bit and took off, whoa, this thing now has some *****. It immediately surges ahead in a powerband, yes I said it, powerband. My KLX 250S now has a powerband. SWEEEEETTTT! Anyways, I can tell I need to rejet since when I let off the throttle it popped like no tomorrow, not to mention when I got done and shut it off the silencer was smoking. I think it may be too lean. Whatever, I plan on jetting it, removing the airbox lid or getting the larger KDX 200 snorkel, and drilling the slide asap. But, I would highly recommend this system, it downright rocks!

Sounds good Iowa,
I wouldn't worry about the smoke much, my muzzy did that the first ride too. It's just the crap burning off the pipe. As far as popping, definately lean jetting. Let us know, how she runs once you jet it.

I agree, Muzzy is missing the boat. This is one bike in dire need of exhaust upgrades; you'd think they would be building them for this bike since it's so popular. I have never installed any exhaust system on any bike and felt the immediate power like this gave to my KLX (yes, i've installed Muzzy's on Ninja's, Yoshimura's on suzukis, pro-circuits on 2-strokes). Clutching it in 2nd brought up a wheelie, unheard of before. I'm impressed by Big Gun and their craftsmanship. The pipe is a work of art and it's fit is top notch. I can't imagine what a re-jet and a big breath of air will make it run like.
