That thing's like 30 lbs heavier than our KLX also. Please stop posting the DRZ - I'm not buying a DRZ, I don't wish I would have bought a DRZ, nor am I considering it for a future purchase. I like my overbored KLX just fine, thanks

Don't make me come out there and poke you with what's left of my collar bone

Not to mention electric start!
Once you get used to that, there is no going back!
If I were doing the head on the bike, I would visit my friend's shop and hook it up to the flow bench to see what it will flow. I would be looking for sharp angles, non-smooth flow areas and just touching them up.
Next, I would probably look at a camshaft swap. I've found this cam:
lift: .350 - duration at .000: 272 - duration at .050: 229 - Comments:Larry Roeseler's favorite. Quick acceleration with plenty of mid and top end power. - price: $275.00
These are available over at Web Camshafts
To be perfectly honest, I think we are only at the beginning of the performance of this little motor! Of course, if Kawasaki goes ahead and does the trick and makes the KLX450S, why then all bets are off.
I'm very old school and I've learned that there is no replacement for displacement!
It's all about . . . . . . T O R Q U E ! !
