Big bore owners need some input
#21
I understand your hesitation. However, I jumped full tilt into the 351 with just 1400 or so miles on my bike. Crazy to do that to a practically brand new engine?
Just ride one of the 351's vs. the stocker and you'll be a believer.
Difference in power is amazing. At times, it's almost *too* much. When tearing out of a tight corner (on pavement, mine's a supermoto) it's really easy to break the rear end loose if you're not careful.
But, I digress.
It's the best bang for the buck you can do.
I have a 292cc big bore in my Super Sherpa and while that's apples and oranges compared to the KLX, it's still a huge difference between the two.
I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever size big bore you choose. I just wanted to go for max power with the 351. Bill Blue does excellent work.
Oh, and with just about any aftermarket free flowing exhaust, you're gonna get some popping on decel....

response from bill...think i'll go with the 351 kit, if reliability is the same... http://bandbcyclerestorations.com/page_5.html
All of the big bore kits have the same amount of reliability. The 351 kit delivers the most torque & horsepower. The TM33/34 carb compliments the 351 kit it makes the bike easier starting better acceleration. I now sell a complete custom exhaust that is a bit loud, but not as bad as the Two Brothers or muzzy.
My personal bike has a ported head, oversize intake valves, TM34 carb, modified crankcase vent, KDX200 snorkel, custom exhaust & 351 kit 34 HP. We have run our bikes at 85 MPH 8,500 RPM very quick.
$527.45 351 kit
$175.00 core charge returnable when I receive your cylinder.
$392.45 TM33/34 carb
$ 29.95 KDX 200 snorkel
$550.00 complete custom exhaust
If you want some of the parts you can pay by money order or pay pal if you use pay pal add 3% for pay pal service charges.
Closing the shop for a week gone on vacation to Colorado from 9-3-11 to 9-12-11, but when I return I will build up several 351 kits.
