Found'em, so the first one is the pipe from the engine into the "bomb" chamber, probably not ideal but I don't think it'll hurt much because of the direction of flow.
This one was harder to get on the camera and to be honest the camera might almost do the pipe a disservice but non the less I like things flowy and turbulence free.
I think I'll end up buying a actually FMF header and running that, non the less I might turn this pipe into a sacrificial test and tune piece with another sensor bung just for fun. My only concern would be tuning for this "bomb" chamber and not the real deal.
I'm not eve sure if that exit lip bothers me as much as the void behind it, if it were at least flush with a lip would be SLIGHTLY better in my book.

Norcal, does the chinabomb mate up to your Q4 correctly? If so, give 'er a whirl.. Now assuming it flows well and is comparative to the FMF - You will be very lean from upper mid to redline.. Of course you'll see this for yourself if you "bung" it.. The biggy upper end power comes when you re-do your carb for the exhaust.. Of course my data is with the airbox lid removed... But near sea level, it takes a DJ144 and 1N to keep WOT AFR between 12 and 13 to 1.. Once setup'd, she will hit the rev limiter before you can shift..

KLX400. That way you can still ride Green. Make an adventure out of it while you're at it. Here's one in Maine. See if he'll take $2K. Get a flight there from SFO for $425 or so. Ride Maine, NH, VT, NY, Canada, MI, WI, MN, SD, WY, ID, OR, CA...

I'll have to give it a whirl then, that was the other thing I haven't checked...fitment, apparently these headers need a little persuasion to get them to fit. Right now my jetting is pretty good actually, maybe even a pinch fat down low momentarily.
The KLX400 is a sexy beast btw but I'll probably just big bore my bike in the next few months and see what happens. If anything the extra grunt will be nice on the trail.

If you're going to buy an actual FMF header, I'll have you know that I picked up my header and exhaust can much cheaper through amazon. I don't remember exactly how much I saved, but it was definitely worth it. I had FMF website pulled up so I could match part numbers, and double check the price. That's really the only concern when not buying direct is making sure the part number is the same. The pieces I bought were overstock from companies that bought in bulk and then ended up with quite a few extra pieces.

Don't laugh but I live in Commyfornia...most places won't sell or ship the header to CA...even though tomorrow I'm driving right past the FMF facility ironically...it's hit or miss though, sometimes we get lucky and find a place that will ship it here. I'll check again but that was another reason I got the fleabay header.

X-posting NorCalKLX's images to a second hosting site in case PB unexpectedly folds one day:
