Best mods for the road
I've looked at a fair number of "best mods" threads but I notice all of them seem to be about offroad performance (Mostly) but seeing as I ride about 98% onroad I would be interested in seeing what you tarmac guys like the most.
I am doing a "as I get the money" kind of slow build on my '12 KLXs to make it a fun commuter/weekend blast kinda bike so here is the list of mods I am thinking,
~FMF powercore 4 (already have that),powerbomb header and dynojet stage 2.
~some kind of street tire probably 80/20 onroad offroad.
~BB 351 big bore kit for wheelies
~A sprocket selection from 13T to 15T
~Sliders and handguards for all the crashing I really hope not to do
so what have you guys done to your bikes to make them a little more road fun/friendly? and what do you think of the mods outlined?
Thanks,
Hunterman.

You have most of it covered. Add a 20 dollar Uni air filter and it will really liven up and give you crisp throttle response. Toss the snorkel and drill some holes in the air box lid.
I ran Bridgestone Battle Axe ( or Battlewing, cannot remember) which were rated for 90% on road and 10% off road tires. They were great on road before I did the Motard conversion.
Stiffer fork springs are a must for on road as well, to get rid of the dive when braking hard.

If your doing mainly street, I'd recommend a K&N air filter with the KDX snorkel. I have 70/30 tires which are great for daily street riding but with enough tread for fire roads and trails.

Different bike.
If it wasn't for the needed off-road prowess, there are tons of bikes that are better on the road.
I ride mostly on-road but bought the bike for my enduro, desert race, and poker run fetishes. So the most great thing that applies to both is the vapor computer. It is accurate so you actually know your speed and distance. When I commute it isn't important but for long road rides I find the tank ridiculously small. I can't ride more than a couple of hours without the damn tank running out of gas.

You guys know I love my KLX, and I put it through its paces fairly decently in off road situations. But when this bike is on pavement for any real distance, it just gets ridiculously boring to me...and I don't think there's a lot that can be done to bring it to any level of inspiring street performance. This is the argument for having two bikes.
