The power outlet is sturdy, so the color display backlight of the GPS stays on when the external power is used...Very satisfied !

I have the etrex vista hcx... Go to garmins website and compare the gpsmap 60cx it has all the same features the vista hcx does, the only difference is the type of receiver and buttons on front or on side. I have no problems with the buttons on the side of my etrex. The gpsmap 60 is alot more expensive too, i got the vista hcx for 185$ US. The 12v power plug is just a small USB, if your using the gps and going through any wet areas i would be concerned about the waterproofness of that plug being plugged in while riding, i just use rechargeable AA batteries. I have the RAM mount for both the KLX, KLR and the heavy duty suction cup for the truck. I love it. I have used it many times. Works great.

I've never used one but as Westoz has said, the Garmin 60CSX is supposed to be the go for off road use.

Hard to beat the Zumo for a street navigator though.
I have 3 cradles.
1 hard wired to the KLX, 1 hard wired to the CBF and the third is used in the car.

I like it but may get a 60CSX for when I'm feeling a bit more adventurous.

Garmin has discontiued the 60C (Cx & Csx) models. You maybe able to find a deal on a closeout. I got my second unit for $189!
A common problem with these is bike vibrations wearing out the battery contacts. You'll want to run the 60 with a external power supply (I leave the batteries out when riding). the RAM mount is good but I think it's to big. I have always added a ziptie for security.
That's my 2 pennies worth.

Does anyone have any experience with the Garmin Oregon series? I've been looking at getting an Oregon 450. I've yet to read anything bad about them, but I also don't know anybody who has actually used one.
