FYI, I went with a garmin 60CSx. $200 shipped on amazon. Just so much positive stuff out there from everyone who has one.

Now it's time to start doing the research on affordable/free maps. Gonna eventually get both a roads and topo for it hopefully.

Thanks for all the advice!

I got a Magellan Triton 2000 a few months back. I use 'atlas creator' to download and convert the maps. so I carry mostly the whole state of Wa and some of Idaho. with a bigger memory card I could do the whole northwest.
It has a camera in it that geo-tags... cute. also has a barometer and compass. I got a ram mount and hooked her to the 12 v. so good to go. I think the whole setup cost about 250 US.
I really like atlas creator. it reaches out to Google.Microsoft, Terraserver, and a bunch more including international sites for maps... so what you can see at those site is what can be imported to the device.

I just bought the Delorme PN-40 from Walmart on closeout sale at $190.
It's back up to $250 now though.

I picked up a GOPRO HD at the NAIMS in Novi last weekend and a Garmin 60csx at Cabella's after that. I now need to find a mount for the gps that will keep it safe. The 60csx has a lot of features that I have yet to figure out, good thing I got it now so I can learn how this thing works before spring.

I use the RAM mount system for my Garmin GaPSmap 76. I put mount ***** on my mountain bike, motorcycle, snowmobile, and quad and move the holder system and gps from vehicle to vehicle as needed. I like the RAM because I can tilt it up high and center for when I need to see it, and down low when it needs to say a bit more out of the way. Pretty solid.
