Bearing throttle tube for KLX
Since it’s a little slow I decided I would add this little bit of nothing to the forum, there may be someone out there that cares.
I tend to be fairly hard on throttle sleeves and I like the feel of the bearing throttles so I decided to install one on my little KLX.
Pro Taper makes the Twister model which will work perfectly with my Contour handlebars and after a little research I found that the Honda XR and XL throttle sleeve are identical to ours with the exception of the lip that the grip slips over (no big deal at all).
Pro Taper's part # 02-1247 was the ticket.............except they have discontinued it and no place I called after searching the Internet had one left.
So I call Pro Taper and am told that they produce the Twister for Oberg Sports (Oberg Part # TTB1001) and they may have a left-over, so I call Oberg and am transferred to Cernics Racing; they have a few left and sell one to me for $65 shipped to my door.
Installation is straight forward I first loosen all the cables and remove the stock throttle sleeve and soak it in hot water for 10 minutes so I can peel the stock grip off and reuse it; no problem it comes right off without tearing.
I push the new throttle firmly into the bar end and hit the rotator flange with some dry graphite lube.
Then I route the cables properly making sure to keep the push cable on this side of the Teflon guide and screw it back together (not too tight).
Then I dry the grip that I am reusing and spray the inside with some hairspray for traction and slip it onto the new tube, now this new tube doesn’t have the raised grip flange so I get the grip on all the way and snug a spot-tie around the grip to hold it in position until the hairspray dries.
It works marvelously.

RE: Bearing throttle tube for KLX
Quite a bit smother and it won't break easily if you bump the throttle end of your bars but the real advantage is that it's another gadget to blow your extra cash on.
