Default battery

have 2009 klx250sf with little under 7,000 miles...only had it for little over 6 months, but i figure it's 2009 and the battery was about 3 years old....last year the bike started up with one push of the starter in the morning....recently, i find myself push and throttle few times....sometimes 5 to 8 times in the morning to start...after work, may take 3 to 6 or attempts again...fires up fine when warm...thought it was time for a new battery....i know some of you mentioned you had the same stock batter for 6+ years....how long does your battery last you?...or, do you replace before that ever happens?

ordered the shorai lithium-iron battery lfx14l2-BS12 for $143.99...shorai's higher performance...there was a "standard" battery for about $100, but thought i just spend little extra and get one rated for better starting...

There are many other Lithium battery choices that are less than 100.00. You don't have to pay list price, if you look around a bit. I went Lithium. Zomby Woof knows more about them than I do...maybe he'll chime in soon.

maybe i should have asked about different direct fit battery options (wanted a direct replacement and not worry about rewiring or mounting a small rc battery)...i was reading old battery thread...i looked up the shorai after i saw that you mentioned it...they had two options...i just picked the higher performance model...

If possible, can you post the weight of the two batteries.

That's one of the beauties of the Lithium. It isn't going to lose much of a charge (I think it is only 10% per YEAR!). So, I imagine there is no real benefit to storing it cold.

on the website it says it is 1.61 lbs....on my bike scale..it says 1.09 lbs...i'm pretty sure the website is correct....i don't think the bike scale is meant to weigh such lightweight items....

weigh yourself with each battery and just you

or sub some other item for you that will get the scale into a better weight range

Don't want to sound like a preacher and I probably wouldn't have listened to my advice when I was your age, but proper gear should come before $ mods. Those in the med profession and those who have crashed w/ & w/o can tell you.
