Default Baffling question

Hey any of you guys drilled the second baffle on the stock muffler?

How loud is it?

Is it recommended with my current set up of:

125 main
40 pilot
Adjustable Needle with clip on second notch w/ collar
7/64" slide
Kouba fuel screw out 2 turns out
Emission control removed
KDX snorkel w/ stock filter
13-tooth CS sprocket
Currently 1/2" hole drilled in first baffle of muffler.

Thank you in advance.

Default RE: Baffling question

In an attempt at getting as much airflow through the engine as possible, I have drilled, drilled again, and then hammered a longish metal rod up through whatever I could find in there. Noise is of no concern whatsoever, from what I recall, the only change in sound came with the first 1/2 inch hole - nothing really changed regardless of what I did after that. I do not believe the stock system can be made "loud" by attempting to get more air through holed drilled on the inner baffles.

Basically I have the same setup as you, as far as mods are concerned, although I'm open airbox, no snorkel, and am running the stock pilot (35 I believe?) I ride around 5k to 10k in altitude.

FYI - Ijust ordered up a Muzzy system, because I don't believe its possible to come anywhere near the increase in flow that the new header/pipe w/o a cat will provide. It will be louder (much) but the increase in pow is what I'm focusing on.

Have fun!

Hello:
I modified my stock exhaust and thought it turned out very nice.
See my post and reply's

I also bought a HMF last summer and really could tell much of a difference except it looked cool and is way louder even with the quiet core in. I'm even thinking on selling it as I put the modified stock muffler back on.

Cool! Don't forget to post and let us know how much increase in performance you felt.

Hey DJ, I remember reading that thread last year and thinking it was very creative.

I think I'm going to drill out the second baffle too and see how it goes.

I drilled and 7 inches of the foot long 1/2" bit went through and it will not go in any further. 7 inches, does that mean the second baffle is drilled? Or do I need to go infurther?
